File Marketing

A nonprofit marketing agency built for teams of one or two

Most nonprofit marketing happens in the gaps between grant reports and events. We take the part that compounds, being found in search, off your plate, and leave you the parts only you can do.

01 Assessment

Nonprofit marketing for a small team: where the hours go

Nonprofit marketing covers a lot of ground: appeals, events, newsletters, social media, the annual report, press, partner relations and the website. A large organization splits that across a department. A small one hands it to a development director who also writes grants, or to an executive director on Sunday evenings.

Each channel works differently. Social media and email reach people who already know you. Events and appeals turn that relationship into gifts. Search is the one channel that reaches people who don't know you yet but are already looking for what you do: a volunteer shift, a place to donate coats, help with rent, a church to visit. It is also the one that keeps working when nobody touches it for a month, because a page that ranks keeps showing up.

That is why we only do search and the content that feeds it. A nonprofit marketing agency that promises everything usually ends up doing a little of each. We would rather do one part properly at a price a small budget can carry.

02 Services

Our nonprofit marketing services, line by line

What a monthly plan covers, and the add-ons people ask about. Prices are the same for every organization.

Search engine optimization

The core of every plan: a keyword map for donors, volunteers and the people you serve, Google Business Profile optimization, citation building and cleanup, review work, and monthly links (guest posts, Web 2.0 pages and amplification links), each listed in your report. The detail is on our SEO for nonprofits page.

From $125 a month

Local visibility for every location

Food pantries, shelters, chapter offices, thrift stores, churches: each real place people visit can have its own Google listing. We set them up within Google's rules, including service areas for confidential addresses. See local SEO for nonprofits.

Included in every plan

Content writing

Program pages, volunteer guides, how-to-help explainers and blog posts written for the searches your audiences make. Monthly plans by length and number of pieces; your team approves what goes live.

From $26 a month

Website design and rebuilds

When the site itself is the obstacle: slow, built on an expired volunteer account, or one long page for everything. Fast, accessible builds with a working donation path. Details on nonprofit website design.

For an organization dealing with unfair reviews or a damaging search result. Every case differs, so it is quoted per project after we understand the situation. Tell us what is happening.

03 Advertising

Nonprofit advertising and where search fits beside it

Paid advertising works for some nonprofits: a year-end appeal on social media, a recruitment push before a big event, Google Ad Grants for eligible 501(c)(3)s. Ads buy attention quickly and stop the day the budget or the grant account stops.

Search engine optimization is the slower, compounding half. It doesn't charge per click, and the visibility it builds stays after a campaign ends. The best results usually come from using both deliberately: ads to test a message or a page, search to make the pages that work findable for good.

We don't buy or manage ads. That keeps our advice about them honest, and it is why our Google Ad Grants guide sticks to Google's own published rules.

Low-cost visibility checklist

  • 01Complete Google Business Profile for every location people visit.
  • 02One page per program, named the way people search for it.
  • 03Ask sponsors and partners who mention you to link to you.
  • 04List events on community calendars with a link to the event page.
  • 05Check whether you qualify for Google's nonprofit programs.

Most of this costs staff time, not money. Our plans take over the parts that need steady monthly hours.

04 Budget

Nonprofit marketing services pricing: four SEO plans

Month to month, the same for every organization. Google Business Profile, citation and review work come first in every plan; the link work grows with the plan.

05 Writing

Content writing for small communications teams

Writing falls behind first when one person runs communications. Our content plans cover program pages, volunteer guides and posts aimed at real searches, sold as monthly plans from $26 (four short pieces) to $480 (thirty long guides). Your team approves everything before it goes live.

06 Questions

Questions about hiring a nonprofit marketing agency

What does a nonprofit marketing agency actually do?

It depends on the agency. Some run campaigns and brand work, some buy ads, some write and design. We are a search-focused nonprofit marketing agency: we make your website and Google listing findable, earn links that vouch for you, and write content on monthly plans. We do not run ads, social accounts or events.

How much should a small nonprofit spend on marketing?

There is no honest universal percentage. Start from what you need (gifts, volunteers, program sign-ups), what one of each is worth to you, and what each channel costs to produce one. Our plans start at $125 a month, so search can be tested as a small, separate budget line before it grows.

Do you run Facebook, Instagram or Google Ads for nonprofits?

No. We don't manage paid ads, Google Ad Grants accounts or social media accounts. If those channels work for you, keep them. Search work complements them: people who see a post or an ad often search your name next, and that search needs to land on a page that answers them.

Can you write our blog and program pages?

Yes, through monthly content plans from $26 a month for four short pieces up to 30 long guides for $480. The plan price covers the whole month. Writers follow your style notes and you approve what goes live.

Do you work with other nonprofits in the same cause or city?

We may, and we don't sell exclusivity. One organization's data, reports and plans are never shared with another.

How do we report marketing results to our board?

Separate what was delivered from what changed. Delivered: the links, pages and listing fixes in the monthly report. Changed: gifts, sign-ups and inquiries that started with a search, plus the searches you now appear for in Search Console. A one-page summary each quarter is usually enough.

Is there a contract?

No. Plans are month to month and cancel by email. Each plan can also be bought once, as a single month of work.
